Our Commitment
Southern Gateway Alliance was committed to actively involving the community and stakeholders throughout the project’s development and delivery and established a Community Relations Team to achieve this goal.
We aim to:
- understand and embrace the needs of our customers, the community and stakeholders.
- provide excellent customer service to all those who interact with the Alliance
- build long lasting relationships
- act as a good neighbour while working in your community.
The size and nature of the project meant many diverse stakeholders and communities were consulted during the planning phase of the project, with consideration given to many social and environmental issues.
We built on this information and created opportunities to enable members of the local community to have input into this major infrastructure project.
Keeping You Informed
The Community Relations Team used a range of tools and activities to raise awareness of the project and its progress, and collaboratively resolve any issues that emerged.
Some of the tools used to achieve this included:
- working closely with affected land owners
- holding regular meetings with our Technical Working Groups and special interest groups
- conducting information sessions to local community groups and industry
- distributing project updates
We strived to minimise our impact to the greatest extent possible by providing advance notice, effectively programming our works and implementing on-site management plans.
To encourage community involvement with the Kwinana Freeway extension and Forrest Highway project, the Alliance used a range of engagement methods including:
- Technical Working Groups
- Dialogue with the Community workshops
- Neighbourhood meetings
- Stakeholder meetings on special interest issues
- Information sessions and presentations
These activities enabled matters regarding the design concept and scope of works such as design requirements, environmental commitments, construction and integration of the project within the local road network to be deliberated with the community and key stakeholders.
They provided an interactive forum for residents and stakeholders to share
information and local expertise, raise concerns and have input on various
aspects of the project’s delivery.
